Marine Propulsion Services

One call for all your thruster servicing

Bow, stern or azimuth thrusters: Regardless of make or type, our propulsion engineers can perform maintenance, overhauls or repairs in dock, in-house, afloat or submerged. Anything that needs to be done, we can handle:

  • Blade foot O-rings replacement
  • Shaft seals replacement
  • Top seals replacement
  • Pinion shaft removal
  • Bearings replacement
  • Inspection/overhaul of OD box
  • Quick scan of gear set
  • Blade repair
  • Hub inspection and repair

Marine OD box (Oil Distribution box) repair involves specialized overhaul services for Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) systems, focusing on seals, bearings, and gears, often done in-situ or in workshops by experts from our Team. These repairs reduce downtime, prevent oil loss, and ensure smooth, fuel-efficient propulsion by addressing issues like worn parts, leaks, and alignment, covering major brands like Wartsila, Hundested, and more.

  • Seal Replacement – Replacing worn O-rings, oil seals, and bonded seals to stop oil leakage.
  • Component Overhaul – Inspecting and replacing gears, bearings, and other internal parts.
  • Shaft Line Alignment – Ensuring proper connection and alignment with SKF couplings and the propeller shaft.

Marine Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) repair involves expert servicing for blade damage (welding, straightening, grinding), hub/internal mechanism fixes (seals, bearings, hydraulics), and full overhauls, often by OEMs like Everllence/MAN or Wärtsilä, focusing on restoring balance, efficiency, and reliability through planned maintenance, advanced NDT, and lifecycle support, with underwater repairs possible for minor issues.

  • Blade Repairs – Welding material, crack repair, straightening bent blades (using induction heating), tip renewal, and re-grinding to original geometry.
  • Hub & Internal Mechanism – Replacing seals (O-rings), bearings, pistons, and control rods; addressing hydraulic leaks and pressure loss; reconditioning the pitch control system.
  • Balance Restoration – Critical after damage to eliminate vibration, involving precise measurements and adjustments.

Marine stern tube repair involves fixing leaks and wear in the shaft’s sealing system, using in-situ line boring for shaft alignment, replacing worn lip seals or face seals, applying Teflon-based additives (like STERN TUBE+) for minor leakage or wear reduction, or even underwater seal replacements to avoid drydocking, with services ranging from urgent bearing manufacture to full overhauls for oil & EAL systems. Specialized companies offer global support for these critical propulsion system repairs.

  • Seal Replacement – Replacing worn lip seals or face seals to stop leaks, often done with specialized engineers to ensure correct alignment and testing.
  • In-Situ Line Boring – Precision machining (boring) the stern tube bore to restore perfect alignment and diameter, critical for bearing longevity, especially on large vessels.
  • Leak Stop Additives – Injecting Teflon-based products (like ABCON STERN TUBE+) into the system oil to create a barrier, significantly reducing or stopping minor leaks (15-100L/day) and protecting components.
  • Bearing Repair/Manufacture – Emergency services exist for rapid manufacture or repair of stern tube bearings, sometimes using laser cladding for superior quality.
